Does Craigslist offer a safe way to pay for things through the mail?
Q. Do you know of other sites like Craigslist, besides Ebay? I am looking for a Tagalog Rosetta Stone or similar language learning device.

A. Amazon sells Rosetta Stone and Pimsleur and etc., and a lot of people sell their used copies there. You could try them. If you did use Craigslist, I'd suggest you use Paypal for the payments.

How do I stop having my history on craigslist alway highlighted?
Q. I never had this problem until my computer was all gone threw and re-set up. When I log-on to craigslist all the places and ads I read already are now highlighted in a different color. Not a big deal but knowing it didn't do it before makes me prefer it changed back.

A. Use IE8 and click the "inprivate browsing" button. Or, go to tools>internet options>internet history and delete the cookies or history. Play around with it and you will get it.

How do I include a photo with my resume when replying to a craigslist email address?
Q. Many acting and modeling job postings on craigslist require a recent photo and I have no problem with this since I have watermarked and drastically lowered the resolution on my photo. The problem is, most recruiters use craigslist's free anonymous email addresses which only allow emails up to 150KB in size. I have already tried compressing my file size but my emails are still always to big. Any help?

What to look for when buying used snare drums off craigslist?
Q. I'm getting my first drum set and found a snare I would like off of craigslist. I'm not very familiar with drum equipment, so I was originally going to make my friend (a drum expert) check out the snare with me, but now he has work. If I wait for an opportunity to have him come with me, the snare might be sold. What are some questions or things to test out on the used snare? The snare is a Pork pie lite.

A. Have you comparison shopped? If you try to spend roughly half what these cost, then at least if you don't like the snare you should be able to sell it and get your money back: test it out a bit and make sure you like the sound, obviously. test the sound by hitting it in different places around the drum... center, edge, rim etc... check the bolts and see that they look ok... aren't rusted... you're still able to turn them. It's ok if the skin is a little bit warn, but if it looks really worked... has a lot of dents in it from the sticks... or doesn't seem flat, then you will need to replace it soon, so that's another expense. Honestly, as a first kit I wouldn't worry too much about the quality... I'd be more concerned about the… [cont.]

Can you get in trouble for selling a broken item on craigslist without telling the buyer that its broken?
Q. My friend is selling his old phone to someone on craigslist, but didn't tell them that the camera on it is broken.
Asked by Grotodius - Sat Aug 22 19:30:26 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Well that is definitely unethical and immoral. I do believe they could take your friend to small claims court for not fully disclosing everything and inaccurately describing the product. Especially if they ask if everything works and your friend lies. Chances of that are slim though, depending on the value of the phone. It usually costs money, time, and a hassle to sue someone...even in small claims court.

In the sales section of Craigslist I have seen 8X10 photos. How is this done?
Q. While I haven't had occasion to post photos at that site recently, in the past the final display conforms to standard Craigslist dimensions. How does one override the software to produce larger images? Today I saw an entire chain of 8X10's. This is so much more effective. My camera is a Canon digital with all the bells & whistles. What's the secret?

A. you have to upload the pictures that you want to post onto a website like photobucket.com after you have uploaded the pictures on photobucket, below the picture, you will see, "email & IM, direct link, html code and img code", you are going to copy the "html code" only and paste it on your craigslist posting. (You can do this to as many pictures as you want) and you are done.

I've seen freelance jobs of all sorts, and they do their best to keep the scams...and the people who charge you to work for them...out. The nice thing about this site is that, if you find one that asks for money, you report them and they are removed, which does not only you, but tons of other job seekers a favor. Good luck!

I need a simple website, similar to craigslist for a school project. How do I go about doing it?
Q. It is basically craigslist, except it will be to sell books at our school. I need to know what skills, scripting languages, database, etc., as well as what I need to do for it. Please only answer if you know something about web development. I know that there are a billion ways to go about this, but I need to keep it simple. Since it is a school project, learning new things about web development is a good thing. I never said I needed a replica of craigslist, I am doing a school project that is a simple ad site targeted at books. I already know Javascript, HTML, and a little Flash.

A. All you need to know: HTML, PHP, MySQL, and some CSS could help. In the MySQL database, you'll store the "ads" themselves, as well as the accounts that people register with. Use the PHP to draw the information from the database, and with the help of HTML, display it neatly on the page. Feel free to contact me on any specific questions.
